Cormega. Hardly the game-changer he once might have been right?
You've gotta love African musicians collabing with other countries. Such is Ben Sharpa. 20/20's favourite word-smasher has a great joint with the Foreign Beggars - despite being banned from the UK for no apparent reason. FB of course have the frontman with the best name in the world: Orifice Vulgatron. Him and his boys, including fellow MC Metropolis, have a new record out on their label Dented. It's called United Colours of Beggatron, and it rocks.

Plus there's this new cat from Durban, Zenith. He's dope.

- 6 in the Morning - Statik Selektah feat. Kool G Rap, Joell Ortiz and Sheek Louch
- Contact - Foreign Beggars feat. Noisia
- Asylum Bound - Foreign Beggars feat. Ben Sharpa
- Change - Zenith
- It's Goin' Down - Linkin Park feat. The X-Ecutioners (R.I.P ROC RAIDA!!!)

The new Jay-Z is...meh. It's OK. Experimental, new-agey and light years away from the freshness that is BP1 (we won't mention BP2). We play the best track on the record on this edition: Empire State of Mind featuring Alicia Keys. No Nas on the record too, which is a shame, as Jay and Esco together always rock (anybody remember Black Republicans?)

But because this is 20/20, we don't like to make too big a thing out of Jay. Hence the pic of Illuminating Shadows. Creaky Ewok Baggends (aka the Stun Gun Son of the 031 - that's the Durban area code to you non-Saffas) and King Babar are too fresh. Their Psycles EP is actually quite a bit better than Ewok's solo record Higher Flyer for Hire. We have a great joint from them here.

- All Said and Done featuring Kobe - Evidence
- Microphone Matters - Illuminating Shadows
- Empire State of Mind featuring Alicia Keys - Jay-Z
- We Ain't Goin' Nowhere featuring Donnie Brasco and Eli - Explicit
- I Want It All featuring Pro and Khuli - I.V. League

DJ JS1 just put out a stoopid fresh record. It's called Ground Original 2 and gathers together just about every dope MC you can think of, then locks them in a room and doesn't let them out until they work together. So I guess that means JS stands for JigSaw from the Saw movies. Best hope that Pharoahe Monch and OC manage to get their way out of his traps intact, but hey, these are two of the nicest, most Ridiculous cats to ever do it.

Speaking of Pharoahe, Tactical Thinking opened for him when he played London's Jazz Cafe recently; we've got a sick joint from member Assa up in this one. Cheah!

- House of Flying Daggers - Raekwon feat. Inspectah Deck, Method Man, Ghostface Killah

There's something truly special on this episode.

No, I'm not going to tell you what it is.

Fine. It's the reunion of two hip-hop superstars that created a monumental, life-changing track years ago, and have come back together to create something...well, just listen. You can't afford to miss this.

By the way, RIP Baatin (above). That's now two members of Slum Village who have passed, which is bloody awful, and this one was a founding member. Baatin (Titus Glover) passed away over the weekend in Detroit, in unknown circumstances - though there is no indication of foul play. There's a classic Slum V jam on this episode to say thanks to him and his boys for making such fresh music. Respect.

- Dream - Zone Fam
- ???? - ????? featuring ?????
- Sandman - Epic and J-Bux
- Da Villa - Pete Rock featuring Slum Village
- Prototype Aquaris - Gini Grindith

K'Naan has officially given one of the best shows of the year. His gig at Cargo in North London was beaten only by the Roots at the Royal Festival Hall. He did everything from Soobax to Waving Flag, which was his last track and is on this episode. Troubador may not be the best rap album of the year, but it's certainly one of the most important.

20/20 is back and blazing yet again, and K'Naan gets assists from Dubbledge, Vinnie Paz, Marco Polo and more. It's another banger - WITH ADDED RUFFRYDERS!!! (That includes a rejuvenated DMX; about damn time)

Raekwon is all over this one. The Chef not only swung by the UK for a performance on Saturday night (accompanied by just about every British MC ever, including Micall Parknsun who is on this episode - oh, and Rahzel) but also performed stuff from OB4CL2. Which is kinda cool. He's on here, with a new joint. Fresh and dope!

And plenty more. Oh, and if you haven't downloaded Re-Invention Vol.2, go to the link in the episode down below.

- All 4 Hip-Hop - Micall Parknsun
- Wu Ooh - Raekwon feat. Ghostface Killah and Method Man
- Give Up Your Guns - DJ Wich feat. Raekwon, Royce 5'9" and Talib Kweli

A while ago, a few guys on an otherwise obscure internet message board got together and made a beat tape. They called it Re-Invention, and it went down so well that they decided to make another.

It's called Re-Invention Vol.2, and as you may have guessed, this time it features MCs. Some dope ones, from many different countries, all rocking over crazy beats.

This album - even if I'm biased (since I'm on it myself) - rocks. It's a solid, funky-as-hell mix of great beats and sick rhymes. It's also entirely free to download. It's had over 500 DLs at the time of writing. Which is incredible, for a tape like this one.

The track above is one of my joints, entitled Caught Between Worlds. Free, gratis, mahala.

One of the great things about UK hip-hop is how close it links with the UK dub scene. These aren't so much remixes as remakes - with Michael Bay-type production budgets. HUGE beats. We have two great examples right here, including the Foreign Beggars (pictured) and the crazy new Kyza single - mixed as beautifully as only 20/20 can. Play at top volume.

This edition, by the way, is big, brutal and heavy. If you can't deal with speaker-splitting beats, huge basslines and sick rhymes, then maybe this isn't for you.

Like that kind of thing? Step this way...

Oh, and shouts to Kyza and Raekwon for the shoutouts.

- Go - Kyza
- Go (Bar9 Remix) - Kyza
- Hit That Gash - Foreign Beggars
- Hit That Gash (DJ Primecut's Itchy Naan Rerub) - Foreign Beggars
- Rhyme Scheme 101: Money, Money - Reason feat. Ben Sharpa, Driemanskap and XO
- BBQ (Remix) - Evil Ed and Conspicuous feat. Seanie T, Doc Brown, Konny Kon, T-Bear and Broke 'n English
- Peace to the Fam - Optic Nerve

PEACE!!!

After a hugely successful trip back home to SA, 20/20 is back on the air. It's an all-African episode this time around. I personally kept Ritual Store in Joburg afloat by spending a truly stupid amount of money on CDs and an oversized Ben Sharpa T-shirt. Shouts to Ritual Store (Inta/Osmic), you guys rock. Most of the tunes on this episode are on you.

Joburg is fine. We narrowly missed the Back to the City gig, didn't get into the Mos Def show, had a killer time out at CCHQ in Germiston, drunk Bowls Club dry and got to drive an Audi R8. Oh, and shouts to Alias and San for hooking a brother up in Grahamstown. Even if I had to drive back to East London airport at 5AM, I had good tunes for company.

By the way, does anybody know who the hell this cat Robo is? His album 'The Technician' is sick as fuck. Somebody betta tell 'em...

- Peep the Vision - Smurf Illes feat. Dark Spark
- Career Crook - Hoodlum feat. Seida Crook
- Check the Evidence '08 - Ben Sharpa
- Think Twice Music - Last Days Fam
- The Core - Robo

- rob one

PS: Expect a nice little treat from the Re:Invention cats to get posted this week.<img src="http://www.mypodcast.com/image-421721">

DJ Vadim. Eye cancer, in the form of ocular melanoma. Horrific combo. Fortunately, the Ninja Tune DJ is back on storming form - his album preview party (it's called U Can't Lurn Imaginashun) was off the hook. The lead single, featuring a very beautiful, liquid-voiced singer called Sabira Jade, is right here. It'll get ya head nodding.

Endlessly funky stuff...for some reason (and I swear I didn't plan this) all the tracks are features. Huh. Dope tunes though.

20/20 EPISODE 69 (PLUS ANNOUNCEMENT BELOW) 18/03/09)

<itunes:subtitle>So mypodcast.com being done nixed the announcement. I intended to include it in an episode, but this</itunes:subtitle>

So mypodcast.com being done nixed the announcement. I intended to include it in an episode, but this will have to do.

(Ahem)

Thanks to my man Cliff, 20/20 is now available on a proper radio station. If you have DSTV (African satellite TV), it has something called the Audio Bouquet - a bunch of really funky digital radio stations.

Channel 172 is TransAfrica Radio, the guys who have been good enough to let 20/20 take over the airwaves one day a week. It'd make me really, really happy if you'd tune in. Even if you don't dig hip-hop, tune in. I only get to keep the show if I have listeners, so log on!

You can catch the show on TUESDAYS at 15h00, 22h00 and 03h00 on WEDNESDAY mornings. DSTV Channel 172, or alternatively go to

<a href="http://www.streamovation.com/transafricaradio" target="_blank" class="userlink">http://www.streamovation.com/transafricaradio</a>

to listen online.

20/20 IS NOW WORLDWIDE SUCKERS!!!

(Oh don't forget to check out other dope shows at the same time slots - Hiphocalypse on Wednesdays and TNGLive on Thursdays)

Now for your much-delayed episode...

The new Zubz (above) is finally out. It's called Cochlea: One Last Letta. Go get that, and ignore the pretentious two-song-titles-each thing he has going on. But anyway...double Joe Budden on this one too. Padded Room is fly. Plus Slaughterhouse. Plus - ah, fuck it, download it. You'll dig it.

- Indie Takeover - Jitsvinger, Black Tiger, Robbe, Burnie Aman, Dimitri, Baze, Mr. Dmus, Perspektif, Gaston and Pan
- Fight Klub - Slaughterhouse
- Now I Lay - Joe Budden
- In My Sleep - Joe Budden
- A Different Life - Live It Up! f/Pebbles - Zubz

PEACE!

UPDATE: It seems to be working now. Click away!

I'm currently working on a 'sister' site which is less temperamental than Mypodcast.com. Meantime, episode description is below.

First, download your regular dose of dopeness. Next, keep a close eye on the website this week, especially if you're in South Africa. There's something big brewing with regards to 20/20 and you don't want to be in the dark when it explodes... (Coming soon, just waiting on confirmation)

Anyway, this episode is dope, especially with Tech, Chino and Crooked leading the charge. And DJ Premier (above).

- Lick Shots - Immortal Technique f/Chino XL and Crooked I (US)
- Shake That - Royce 5'9" f/DJ Premier (US)
- Writers Block 101 - The Federation (SA)
-DM87/Night Train - Looptroop (Sweden)
- Spit 'Til the Sun Stops - Pygmy (Kenya)

This is the official debut EP of the hip-hop </itunes:subtitle>

LINK FOR THE ALBUM DOWNLOAD IS BELOW - CLICK THERE!

This is the official debut EP of the hip-hop artist and 20/20 DJ Rob One , entitled Superhero. With stellar production by Alias, Nyambz, Ootz, San and Rob himself, and featuring guest vocals from Nomalanga and Spyke, this is a record you need to own.

Recorded in both SA and the UK, Superhero is a comic book in musical form; a twisted journey through the mind of an assassin in a wicked city, a tale of both thunder gods and sunkissed children, a recording of a deep-thinking MC with a lot on his mind and even more to say.

Massive guitar licks, rumbling bass, sweeping and damn near vertical orchestral samples all play backdrop to Rob as he rips the shit out of the mic with crazy stories and insane battle rhymes. The album sleeve features slick artwork by Keirone Capstack and additional design by Nicole Simpson.

It's available for free download now:

1.	Rocket Fuel (Produced by Alias)
2.	Thunder God (Redux) (Produced by Alias)

20/20 EPISODE 65 (09/02/09) featuring NATURELLE

<itunes:subtitle>The lovely Naturelle came along to the studios to rock this episode of 20/20 with us, bringing along</itunes:subtitle>

The lovely Naturelle came along to the studios to rock this episode of 20/20 with us, bringing along her own day-glo backpack full of dope tunes.

She supplied some kick-ass joints from Nthabi, Blaqphamous, Dope G and the Holstar, while we threw some Bliss n Eso, Illuminate, MF Doom and Mighty Underdogs into the mix. So that's like six tracks, five countries, two hosts and one show. We run the numbers anyway you look at it.

It's a dope show, bit longer than usual. Many thanks to Nat for coming along for the first double-hosted show in 20/20 history. We know you're gonna dig this...

The tracklist:
- Take Us There - The Holstar f/Dope G
- The Sea is Rising - Bliss n Eso
- Questions - Nthabi
- Breaking Chains - Illuminate
- Stop (Remix) - Blaqphamous
- Gunfight - The Mighty Underdogs f/MF Doom
